I took what Connie added (I used my own "Audience" ) and put it all into one document for now. -- Wendy
Lesson Plan Motivation (anticipatory set): Throughout their fourth grade year, students study Florida’s geography and history; however they rarely get a chance to consider vacation destinations. Because times are tight and traveling out of the state is not a reality for many families, I wanted to give my students a chance to plan a “staycation” in Florida, in essence a day trip or overnighter close to home. Students also get bored over the summer and most of my students have internet access. By integrating the technology of Google Earth, I was able to springboard off the students’ natural curiosity and engage them in the planning of a family vacation close to home. They also were able to create a slide show to share with friends and family using photos provided by Google Earth and other online links provided by Google Earth.
Audience: There are seventeen students in my third grade classroom aged eight to ten. I have ten boys and seven girls. Ten of my students are white, five are black, and two are Hispanic students. Five of my students are Exceptional Education students; two are in the Gifted program, two have speech and language disabilities, and one has a specific learning disablility. My students know how to use the internet, but most are not proficient. They have studied the different regions of the United States and are aware that Florida is located in the southeast region of the United States
Objectives:
Students will be able to use the internet as a research tool
Students will be able to navigate a website
Students will be able to use map skills
Students will understand the importance of the role of economics in their lives
Students will understand the history of St. Augustine
Students will understand how human activity affects the physical environment
Students will know ways in which people view and relate to places and regions differently

I like this. Thanks, Wendy. I think we can all make changes to reflect our audience and what is specific to our class. However, I don't understand how economics fits in. Can you help me?
